Itinerary

 

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park

​

  • Meet & greet at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

  • Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park (Approx. 3-hour drive).

  • Afternoon game drive along the shores of the alkaline lake, home to thousands of flamingos, pelicans, and cormorants.

  • Spot other wildlife, including white and black rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, and tree-climbing lions.

  • Check-in at your chosen lodge/camp.

  • Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Full-Day Birdwatching at Lake Nakuru National Park​

​

  • Early morning birdwatching drive: Target species include the African fish eagle, lesser and greater flamingos, Hottentot teal, and pied avocets.

  • Picnic breakfast by the lakeside with scenic views.

  • Mid-morning visit to Baboon Cliff for panoramic photography and spotting raptors such as augur buzzard and verreaux’s eagle.

  • Afternoon game drive to spot terrestrial species like the African hoopoe and arrow-marked babbler.

  • Return to the lodge/camp for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru to Aberdare National Park

  • Breakfast and morning birdwatching along the Lake Nakuru escarpment.

  • Scenic drive to Aberdare National Park (Approx. 4-hour drive).

  • Lunch upon arrival at the lodge/camp.

  • Afternoon guided forest walk in search of montane bird species such as the Hartlaub’s turaco, Abyssinian crimsonwing, and tacazze sunbird.

  • Evening relaxation at the lodge/camp, overlooking wildlife at a waterhole.

  • Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Full-Day Birding & Wildlife Safari in Aberdare

  • Early morning drive through the moorlands and bamboo forests, searching for endemic birds like the Aberdare cisticola and Jackson’s francolin.

  • Visit Karuru and Chania Waterfalls for excellent bird photography opportunities.

  • Midday picnic lunch in the park.

  • Afternoon drive to spot larger mammals like elephants, buffaloes, and leopards while also searching for olive pigeons and mountain buzzards.

  • Return to the lodge/camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Aberdare – Nairobi – Departure​​

​

  • Breakfast at the lodge.

  • Optional morning birdwatching around the lodge/camp grounds.

  • Transfer back to Nairobi (Approx. 3.5-hour drive).

  • Drop-off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your preferred location in Nairobi.
